8-13-25 Person or Passport?

After several weeks of absence, our group convenes again to engage in another conversation on Jesus in us and we in Him. Today, our discussion began with the report of a recent evangelistic crusade in Portland, and how effective it was in bringing people to Jesus.

7-2-25 I can't get enough of Jesus.

In this episode, we talk about how knowing Jesus in us and us in Him is not a "one and done" experience. It is actually a process over time and varies for each one of us. It is spurred on by the fact that we can't get enough of the revelation of this reality. As Paul declared late in his life, he had forsaken all to know Him (Phil. 3:7-10). Where are you in this process? Are you satisfied that you know Jesus fully?

6-18-25 Am I the New Man?

Over 80 years ago, CS Lewis wrote in his famous book Mere Christianity:

But already the new man, I'll add, and the new women are dotted here and there all over the earth….Every now and then, one meets them. Their voices and faces are different from ours, stronger, quieter, happier, more radiant. They begin where most of us leave off. They are, I say, recognizable, but you must know what to look for.

He went on to write that these people live the "Christ-life". Were his words prophetic? Could Jesus as Us be what Lewis was referring to? Arnold and Dennis discuss how Lewis was indeed talking about this age in which we are experiencing "the New Man" or Christ in us.

After reading an article recently in which the author claims Christianity has become apathetic, Dennis poses the question, are we apathetic? Just because Jesus lives in us and we in Him, and we do not necessarily practice conventional Christian traditions, does that make us apathetic? Our group compares how they live now with the way they lived in the institutional environment of organized Christianity. Which way do they think will do more to impact our country and government?
